What you need to know about New Mexico abortion laws

Abortion in New Mexico is legal throughout the entire pregnancy—there are no limits on gestational age.

How late can you get an abortion in New Mexico?

You can be prescribed abortion medication, a combination of mifepristone and misoprostol, up to 10 weeks after the first day of your last menstrual period.

If your pregnancy is further along than that, you can get an elective in-clinic procedural abortion at any time during your pregnancy as there are no gestational age limits on abortion.

There is no mandatory waiting period before you’re able to get an abortion in New Mexico, and the state doesn’t require you to notify your parents to get an abortion if you’re under 18.

The abortion pill consists of two medications taken separately—mifepristone and misoprostol.

1. First, calculate how far along you are in your pregnancy.
